Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art based on Taoist philosophy. It can be a physical exercise, a meditation in movement as well as a method of self defense.

Beginning: Using a portion of a Yang style form we will look at the fundamental principles that underlie all styles of Tai Chi Chuan.  Tai Chi is a state of being, having the unity of yin and yang, or balance of all parts in harmony.  The Quan or Chuan refers to the martial aspect of the art.  Tai chi Chuan can be used in many ways, as a means of maintaining health and harmony, a meditation in movement, as well as a martial art. ( 12weeks $120)

Chen Style Tai Chi Chaun: Under the guidance of Grand Master Zhang Zhi Bin we are learning the Chen 56 Form.  Master Zhang (Dragon River Martial Arts & Cultural Studies Association) resides in Vancouver and comes over to Salt Spring and teaches Chen workshops at our studio.

Yang Sword Form: For development of inner energy and projection of chi.

Crane Style Qigong: The crane is the Chinese symbol for peace and longevity. The movements of the crane are joyous and alive. This qigong is particularly focused on building up the qi, or energy and allowing it to flow strongly through the body. Health and vitality are increased enormously with regular practice. The entire form once learned, takes only 20 minutes to complete and can become a meditative daily practice. (12weeks $120)

Tai Chi for People w/ Limited Mobility: We will be using movement, meditation and breathing to strengthen the connection between mind & body.  This class will have emphasis on balance and posture.  Note: Class can be done seated.  ($8/class)
